Franchise FAQ
We’re glad you’re looking into Loxley Locksmith & Security. Below are the questions we hear most often from people considering opening a location under the Kingswell standard. If you don’t see your question, call us at (682) 281-8985 and we’ll talk it through.
Common Questions
Do I need locksmith experience to open a Loxley location?
No. Most of our owners come from management, sales, or skilled trades backgrounds, not locksmithing. We train you and your technicians on Schlage, Kwikset, Medeco, Yale, Baldwin, Mul-T-Lock, Sargent, and Abloy hardware, from basic rekeys to commercial access control. What matters more is that you can hire and lead a small team, answer the phone yourself or make sure someone does, and stick to the Kingswell Way: say the price before the work, show up in the window you gave, leave the place cleaner than you found it, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails.
What is the total investment range to open a Loxley Locksmith & Security location?
The total investment typically falls between $85,000 and $150,000, depending on your market size, whether you lease a small storefront or run mobile-only at first, and how much you spend on initial inventory and a service vehicle. That range covers your launch package, training, initial hardware stock, branding, and the tools to handle residential and commercial work from day one. We give you a written breakdown before you commit to anything, so you know exactly where your money goes.
Is financing available?
Yes. Many of our owners use SBA-backed loans or equipment financing for the vehicle and tool inventory. We can introduce you to lenders who understand the Kingswell model and have funded similar openings. We don’t offer in-house financing, and we won’t push you toward any particular lender. Our job is to make sure your business plan holds up, whichever route you choose.
How does territory and exclusivity work?
You receive a protected territory based on population density and service demand, not arbitrary lines on a map. We don’t stack locations on top of each other. Your territory is yours to build, and we don’t sell another Loxley license inside it. That said, we expect you to actually serve the area, not sit on it. If you’re not answering calls and showing up, we have a conversation about whether the fit is right.
How long is the training program?
Initial training runs four weeks: two weeks at our headquarters covering operations, pricing, the Kingswell Guarantee, and hands-on work with every hardware line we stock, followed by two weeks in the field with an operating owner. You’ll rekey deadbolts, program access control fobs, troubleshoot smart locks, and write real estimates. After you open, we stay in touch weekly for the first ninety days, then monthly as you find your rhythm.
What ongoing fees or royalties should I expect?
There is a monthly royalty based on gross revenue, plus a modest marketing fund contribution that supports the brand assets and lead generation tools you use. There are no hidden fees for software updates, training refresher courses, or calling our support line. We spell out every dollar in the disclosure document, and we don’t charge you for things you can buy yourself at the same price.
How long does it take to open after I sign?
Most owners open within 60 to 90 days of completing training. That gives you time to secure your vehicle, lease a small bay or home office if you want one, pass background checks for you and your first technicians, and get your local business licenses in order. We don’t rush you out the door. If you need an extra month to do it right, we take the extra month.
What support do you provide after I’m open?
You get a dedicated operations contact for the first year, plus access to our pricing database, supplier relationships with the major hardware brands, and the same 24/7 phone support we give our customers. We update training materials as new lock technology hits the market, smart locks and cloud-based access control being the big ones lately. The Kingswell Guarantee is standardized, but you run your local marketing, hire your people, and set your schedule. We’re a phone call away, not looking over your shoulder.
What does the ideal Loxley owner look like?
Someone who has been burned by a broken promise before and refuses to run a business that way. You don’t need to be flashy. You need to answer the phone when it rings, give a real arrival window and keep it, and look a customer in the eye when you hand them the written price. Our best owners are former managers, retired military, or tradespeople who are tired of working for someone else’s reputation and want to build their own under a name that means something.
What’s the next step if I want to move forward?
Call us at (682) 281-8985. We’ll send you our disclosure document, schedule a call with Sam Rourke, and if it makes sense for both sides, we’ll arrange a visit to see an operating location. No deposit, no pressure, no “limited spots” countdown. We’re looking for the right fit, not the fastest signature.
